Soup is something which my husband and I can have anytime of the year. Lentil soup is one of our favorites. I had posted the lentil soup recipe a while ago. This is another one with slight variations. It is super delicious and filling.
So, here is the recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
Red onion- 1 medium size chopped
Garlic- 8 cloves
Tomato- 1 Large chopped
Ginger- 1 inch crushed/chopped
Masoor dal (Orange lentils)- 1 cup (washed)
Kashmiri chilly powder- 3/4 tsp
Homemade or store bought Garam masala- 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 Tsp
Mild green chilly- 1 chopped
Cumin seeds- 1 Tsp
Water- 3-4 cups (depends on how thick you need)
Rice bran oil-1 1/2 TbSp
Coriander leaves- 1/2 cup chopped
Sea salt – To taste
METHOD:
In a hot pan, add oil, followed by ginger, garlic, green chilly, and onion, and cook for a little while. Add cumin seeds, chilly powder, garam masala, and turmeric powder. Stir to combine. Into this mixture, add tomatoes and coriander leaves. Cook until tomatoes are soft. Add water followed by lentils. Let the lentils cook. Once it’s cooked, use a hand blender to blend everything well. The soup is ready.
